Wrong country on My eButterfly page

Elliot Kirschbaum Jul 01, 2014 09:10AM EDT

On the subject page, it shows 2 species in Canada, which is incorrect. When I click on the number, I am taken to a page that correctly shows:

1 Great Spangled Fritillary Eidolon Nature Preserve, Berkeley Springs,West Virginia 2013-06-15
2 White Admiral South Meadow Trail, Lake Placid,New York 2005-08-19

These locations are, of course, in the US, not Canada.

Hi Elliot, clearly a little bug here. Apologies for that. Any chance you could attach a print screen of the subject page? That will help us fix it faster.

Thank you for contributing to eButterfly. Always a pleasure to see your records coming in.

I think I know how this happened, but not why I could not fix it. When I submitted observations for a new location, I indicated the location by providing lat-lon coordinates. I did not notice that the next page, where I named the location, had a pull-down for State or Province, so I did not change it from the default "British Columbia."

When I noticed the error later, I fixed the location to show the correct geographic location. Most of these fixes worked, except for these two locations. Wouldn't t be safer to leave the default State blank or to determine country and State from the lat-lon coordinates?

I see that I cannot attach an screenshot to this answer. I will try Email.
